Mini PH brings in the performance-oriented John Cooper Works family

Mini’s cars are known to be fun-to-drive with that “go-kart” like handling and experience, even down to its slightly larger crossovers. But what if you wanted something with a little more spunk in its step? That’s what the John Cooper Works (JCW) models are for, essentially think of them as BMW’s M or Toyota’s Gazoo Racing divisions.

And making a rather bombastic appearance on our shores is the entire family of JCW vehicles in the JCW 3-Door, the JCW Electric 3-Door, the JCW Convertible, the JCW Aceman, and the JCW Countryman All4.

The JCW 3-Door (Php 4,499,000), Electric 3-Door (Php 3,999,000), and Convertible (Php 4,550,000) are all based on the Cooper hatchback.

Meanwhile, the JCW Aceman (Php 4,199,000) and JCW Countryman All4 (Php 4,999,000) are the brand’s sportier crossover offerings.

Powering the JCW 3-Door, Convertible, and Countryman ALL4 is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine (the B48) mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission.

Both the 3-Door and Convertible’s power outputs are at 234 horsepower and 380Nm, with power being sent to the front wheels. The 3-Door’s 0-100kph time is a brisk 6.1 seconds, and the Convertible being 0.3 seconds slower. Top speed of the 3-Door is 250kph, and the Convertible is slightly slower at 245kph.

Meanwhile, the JCW Countryman All4 gets slightly more power at 304 horsepower and 400Nm. The four-wheel drive powertrain allows it to sprint to 100kph in 5.4 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 250kph.

As for the JCW Electric and JCW Aceman, a single electric motor sends 258 horsepower and 350Nm to the front wheels. Top speed for both is capped at 200kph. A 54.2kWh lithium-ion battery powers both, with the JCW Electric’s range being up to 371km, while the larger JCW Aceman’s range is slightly lower at up to 355km.

Mini has also done various handling improvements by equipping the JCW models with an adaptive suspension, mechanical LSD, and larger brakes.

Externally, all of these cars distinguish themselves from their standard variants with a unique red-white-black JCW color scheme with a checkered-flag motif, complete with unique 18-inch wheels for the Cooper-based models, 19-inch wheels for the Aceman, and 20-inch wheels for the Countryman.

The aerodynamics package comes with aero blades mounted at the C-pillar, front and rear- bumpers with enlarged air vents and splitters, side skirts, and rear spoilers optimized for aerodynamics and increasing range (in the case of the EVs). In the case of the ICE-powered models, the front grilles get enlarged air vents and centrally mounted tailpipes.

The red-and-black motif extends to the interior, down to the fabric trim found in the dashboard and door cards, there is a dedicated JCW sports steering wheel, JCW sports seats that hold you in place with power adjustments.

Apart from that, all of them share the same circular OLED display with the Mini Experience software, just with additional performance-related telemetry such as torque, power output, and G-force. Plus, a Harman Kardon sound system and full suite of advanced driver assistance systems, and the Digital Key Plus functionality ensures a comfortable and easy driving experience.

These cars will make their official debut at the Autohub Track Day this September 7, 2025, at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga. You can register to test drive these five models at the track with this link.
