Here is the 2021 Kia Carnival’s interior

Kia seems to be taking it slowly when it comes to revealing details about the next generation of its Carnival minivan. The all-new model was first revealed a few weeks ago but only with exterior shots. Now, the company has officially revealed the interior.

In a series of images, Kia has revealed what the next generation Carnival’s interior will look like, at least for its home market of South Korea. According to the company, the interior follows the design concept of ‘Spatial Talents.’

Compared to the outgoing model, and many other models in the current Kia lineup, the new interior is definitely a big step up. Quality and design are increased with a more futuristic look and new high tech ambiance. Most obvious is the new wraparound dashboard that is integrated with the door panels. Slim airconditioning vents are also present which look as if they were pulled from a luxury sedan or SUV.

Very visible is the new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is integrated to the digital driver’s instrument cluster of the same size. Buttons are almost non-existent on this new dashboard as most of them have been replaced with touch-sensitive ones both for the infotainment and climate control. A traditional gear lever is also not present, the new Carnival instead gets a shift dial.

As the new Kia Carnival gets a longer wheelbase, longer rear overhang, and a wider body, there should be more interior space for passengers. Depending on the market, the Carnival can be had with three- or four-row seating configurations, with space for 7, 9, or 11 total passengers. The 7-seater option will have reclining captain’s chairs on the second row which should provide business class-like seating for maximum comfort.

Kia also says that the Carnival should excel in terms of practicality with new stowing, supporting, and charging electronic devices and other items. Passengers on the second row will also have access to seatback USB chargers, storage nets for mobile devices, and a storage drawer in the base of the center console with a tray for storing tablets or phones above a larger storage area.

The 2021 Kia Carnival will be launched in the company’s home market of South Korea by the third quarter of this year. Global sales are expected to follow soon after that including here in the Philippines where the model has been available ever since the first generation.
