BYD Cars PH confirms the arrival of the eMax 9 DM-i

In the past, Toyota Motor Philippines used to be the busiest brand, launching about three or four cars in one year, alongside its various events and all. But now, seems that BYD Cars Philippines is one-upping them at their own game by launching five vehicles in one year, ending with the just-confirmed eMax 9 DM-i.

The BYD eMax 9 DM-i (or Xia DM-i in China) is the brand’s premium MPV offering, being part of the automaker’s more premium Dynasty line of vehicles. It’s meant to go up against the likes of the GAC M8 Hybrid and the ever-popular Toyota Alphard.

According to a previous article where we managed to unearth the initial specifications, it’ll most likely arrive in two variants, specifically the Advance and Premium.

The Super DM-i powertrain in this car mates a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 150 horsepower and 220Nm of torque, and an electric motor that’s capable of 272 horsepower and 315Nm.

Depending on the battery size (20.4kWh for the Advanced and 36.6kWh for the Premium), it can drive up to 180km on pure electric range, or a combined range of more than 1,000km.

A few of its include power sliding rear doors, double-glazed acoustic and heat-insulated glass, second-row captain’s seats that are also ventilated, have ottomans, and massaging, plus an in-car refrigerator.

In fact, the automaker has opened up reservations for the MPV at this link, meaning the launch of this vehicle could be very imminent, perhaps before the year ends.
