Toyota is teasing a new “halo” sports car to be revealed at Japan Mobility Show 2025

Toyota has been rather cryptic with its Japan Mobility Show 2025 teasers. It has an official page with all the logos of its sub-brands (Lexus, Century, Gazoo Racing, Daihatsu), and a countdown with very small snippets of messages with little or no correlation to the content… until now.

Written on the page (in Japanese) is a message that reads:

“The signboard at Fuji Speedway has changed.

On the left is the 2000GT

Next to it is the LFA

And next to that is…?”

And true enough, if you visit Toyota Japan’s (@toyota_jp) Instagram page, there are photos of one of the billboards at the Fuji Speedway with the Toyota 2000GT and Lexus LFA displayed in order (though, starting from the right instead of the left as the message says), followed by a close-up shot of a brand-new GR vehicle.

It’s a bit of an open secret that Toyota has been working on a new sports car and its GT3 counterpart. We’ve seen camouflaged versions of it appear in this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, and it’s been audibly confirmed that both cars will utilize a twin-turbo V8.

And with that billboard juxtaposing it right next to arguably two of Toyota’s past halo cars, it’s safe to confirm that this will be the automaker’s latest halo model, whether in the form of a GR model or a high-end Lexus.

Whatever this is, Toyota will be revealing it on October 13 via this YouTube livestream, and we’ll be there in person at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 to get up close and personal with the actual vehicle.
