The BYD Yangwang U9 Xtreme breaks another record, this time at the Nürburgring

BYD is out for blood, it seems. From targeting Japanese manufacturers at their own game to releasing a luxury van that’s set to disrupt the segment in the Philippines, the Yangwang U9 Xtreme, which recently claimed the title of the world’s fastest production car, is now also the fastest production electric super sports car around the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Around the Green Hell with Moritz Kranz behind the wheel, the U9 Xtreme managed to clock in a speedy 6:59.157, which not only is five seconds faster than the previous record-holder for its class (Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, 7:04.957), but also managed to go under the seven-minute mark, hanging with the likes of the 992.1 Porsche 911 GT3.

As we’ve mentioned before, the U9 Xtreme amps things up with special aerodynamics, GitiSport e·GTR² PRO semi-slick tires, titanium-alloy carbon-ceramic brakes, and an upgraded powertrain with 1200V ultra-high-voltage electronics.

The larger Blade battery comes with a higher discharge rate, and uprated quad motors capable of operating at 30,000rpm and can produce more than 3,000 horsepower, plus a special DiSus-X suspension tuned specifically for circuit driving.

And if you want a slice of this insane pie, BYD is making a limited series production run of 30 units. We’re sure that BYD Cars Philippines might want to introduce a few of them to our market with willing buyers.
