JMS 2025 | Honda reveals the 0α and Super-ONE Prototypes

At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, electrification seems to be at the forefront of Honda with the unveiling of its two newest cars, a new SUV, and a prototype of a kei car that is meant for the rest of the world.

We start with the Honda 0α, the newest member of the Honda 0 (Zero) series of electric vehicles. This is considered to be a “gateway model” to the Honda 0 series, with a design language that’s shared across the 0 series, with smooth body panels, thin lights, and unique “U-shaped” lighting for both the front and rear lighting, alongside the illuminated emblem.

This car will be set to go on sale globally, with Japan and India being among the first few starting in 2027.

This is followed by the Super-ONE Prototype, which looks like a beefed-up kei car with flared-out fender flares, a wider tread to accommodate the larger wheels, and large front and rear air ducts for additional cooling. But unlike other kei cars, this will be sold globally, with a production model to be launched in 2026 in Japan, followed by the UK and various Asian countries.

Honda says that this car aims to have “excellent environmental performance and usability for everyday use, with the fun of driving characteristics” that Hondas are known for. Even the interior features sports seats with bright blue accents made specifically for this car, a triple gauge cluster, and additional tactility during acceleration and braking to enhance the driving experience.

With a similar platform and design base as its current N Series kei-cars, this one has no specifics on its powertrain, other than the fact that it has a Boost Mode to temporarily increase the power limit for improved acceleration, alongside a simulated seven-speed transmission that has a simulated gearshift feel of a traditional multi-gear transmission, plus an Active Sound Control System that plays a simulated engine sound.
