JMS 2025 | Mitsubishi’s Elevance Concept is the brand’s luxurious, do-it-all future crossover

Remember that concept electrified crossover that Mitsubishi kept on teasing repeatedly? Apparently, this was the Elevance Concept, a six-seater, electrified crossover plug-in hybrid.

The Elevance Concept is the brand’s expression of its latest technologies with its smooth styling that’s called Luxe Adventurer, combining a luxurious body with a rough-and-tough body that can go almost anywhere, as its concept video studies suggest.

Obviously, with its large LED lighting elements, huge glass canopy, and futuristic wheels that span all the way to the sidewalls, this is more of a design study that may or may not end up going into production with how futuristic it is, considering this has a new iteration of the Mitsubishi Dynamic Shield design identity, with its honeycomb front grille.

Inside those barn-style doors is a capsule style interior that is not only extremely spacious, even when fully loaded with cargo but makes the passengers feel very safe and comfortable, with six individual seats that have front seats that can also face inwards if needed.

The tech inside is also properly futuristic, with a pillar-to-pillar screen in front of the front passengers to minimize blind spots, augmented with cameras to aid visibility, plus there is an AI Co-Driver that shows up in both the main screens and the small one in the steering wheel.

There is a separate trailer at the back that is not only battery-and-solar powered, but it is extendable to allow for hotel-like sleeping conditions wherever you go, complete with a kitchen and shower enclosure.

The high point of this concept is its powertrain, which is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle system that mates a high-efficiency gas engine that’s compatible with carbon-neutral fuels, plus a high-capacity battery, and a quad-motor 4WD system, with one motor per wheel. Of course, it comes with dual-motor Active Yaw Control, and all of the systems work together to make it a very capable and comfortable cruiser.

While this car seems incredibly far-off, what do you think this model will preview? A brand-new Outlander PHEV, or even a new nameplate entirely?
