Say bye to the 2.0-liter bi-turbo for a V6 turbodiesel in the updated Ford Ranger and Everest (in Australia)

Ford Australia has just announced that its ever-popular Ranger and Everest lineup has gotten an update for 2026… and it mostly looks the same. However, it has one very big change that could potentially dictate the direction of the two models in our country, and it’s with the powertrains.

For starters, Ford is dropping the 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine in favor of something significantly more powerful and meatier, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 engine with a very healthy 250 horsepower and 600Nm of torque. Take note that this is only for the Australian market, with no confirmation for other markets at the moment, but this should be good news for fans of six-cylinder power.

As for the only other available engine, the 2.0-liter turbodiesel, it now comes with multiple improvements, including a new timing chain and updated fuel injection system, delivering 169 horsepower and 405Nm of torque, which should (in theory), improve reliability. As for transmission choices, the 10-speed automatic has been standardized across the lineup for both powertrains, according to Ford Australia.

Most of the cosmetic changes made to both variants are swapping out chrome or gray accents in favor of gloss black accents, alongside the addition of new wheel designs (either 17 or 18 inches) and new paint jobs.

The interior differences are also mostly the trickling down of features from higher-end variants, like having the 12-inch portrait infotainment be standard across the range, having the Bang & Olufsen sound system and dual-zone climate control and second-row air vents be available in more variants, and changing out chrome accents for black accents, too.

The Ranger Raptor remains untouched, but if this new 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 is introduced to our market, would you prefer this over something like the 3.0-liter gas V6 found in the Ranger Raptor?
