Subaru looks to be showing off yet another WRX STI concept at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon

It’s that time of the season when the Tokyo Auto Salon will be taking place this weekend, January 9, 2026. While we won’t be there this time around, we’ll still be giving updates on what brands are planning to introduce, and Subaru is one of the few to give a general idea of what to expect.

Based on a bunch of teaser videos released on its Tokyo Auto Salon minisite, it looks like the automaker is ready to introduce yet another WRX STI concept or possibly prototype based on the current VB WRX chassis. After what it showed off at last year’s Japan Mobility Show, we’re optimistic that this could hopefully be the return of the STI brand to the automaker’s lineup.

And for those lucky enough to live and buy a vehicle in Japan, Subaru will also be showing off three limited edition models: the Levorg STI Sport R-Black Limited II STI Performance, the WRX S4 STI Sport R-Black Limited II STI Performance, and the Impreza ST-H STI Performance Edition Plus Package.

From these model names alone, you can tell that these are mostly cosmetic packages with some STI performance parts, including a special Sunrise Yellow color with blacked-out accents across the Levorg and WRX S4. Meanwhile, the Impreza is not as wild as the Performance-B STI Concept shown off, as this is just mostly cosmetic changes.

Stay tuned for more news as the automakers roll out their cars this weekend at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
