Tesla Model Y gets some small but big changes in China

When it comes to new vehicle features, China is one of those markets that get them first. That’s not surprising since many vehicle parts, especially tech-related, are manufactured there.

It’s the same thing with the Tesla Model Y, which just got a small but substantial update for the Chinese market, where the current “Juniper” version was also first launched in 2024.

The updates can all be found inside, starting with the vehicle’s center infotainment screen, which has been enlarged to 16-inches from 15.4-inches. This feature is carried over from the slightly larger Tesla Model Y L. The second change is a bit more obvious. From light gray, the Model Y’s interior headliner and pillars are now available in black, whether with the full black or white and black interior color options.

Other than those, nothing else has changed. Here in the Philippines, the Model Y recently received an updated lineup, now getting a new Long Range RWD variant, which you can read about right here.

And while we don’t know if these updates will make it to our local version, we won’t be surprised if they do, given that Tesla Philippines sources its units from the Tesla Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai, China.
