Ford PH is re-issuing its recall for older Ranger, Everest, Mustang Takata airbags

The Takata airbag recall is one of, if not the largest vehicle recall in the history of the automotive industry, with millions of vehicles involved from different manufacturers, globally, whether Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and more.

Same goes here in the Philippines where plenty of makes and models were affected, and it goes on until today as Ford Philippines announces that it is re-issuing its recall for vehicles that have not yet had their defective Takata airbags replaced.

Owners of Ford Ranger manufactured from 2004 to 2011, Everest manufactured from 2006 to 2014, and Mustang manufactured from 2010 to 2014, are invited to take their vehicles to their nearest or preferred Ford dealership, and have their driver airbag, passenger airbag, side airbag, or airbag inflator and model, checked for defects. The inspection and repair can also be performed by Ford’s Mobile Service Vehicle (MSV), available from select dealerships.

If found defective, the chosen Ford dealership will replace the airbag inflator for free. Ford Philippines also says that repair and replacement time would take around two to three hours.

In an accident, a design defect for the airbag  inflator could cause the airbag to rupture violently upon deployment in a crash, and send sharp metal and plastic pieces into the cabin, injuring occupants.
