The Mitsubishi Xpander dethrones the Toyota Vios as best-selling car in PH for 2025

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines may be second to Toyota Motor Philippines when it comes to vehicle sales in the country for 2025, but there is one thing that it was able to beat the country’s largest automaker at.

That’s taking the crown as the best-selling vehicle in the Philippines for 2025 with none other than its very popular Xpander seven-seater MPV, beating out the Toyota Vios which has consistently held the title for several years, except in 2017 when it was beaten by the Toyota Fortuner.

This feat is no surprise as it has also consistently been a top-seller in its segment for three consecutive years now, beating the likes of the Toyota Avanza and Innova which also enjoy much popularity in our market. For 2025, a total of 28,081 units of the Xpander were sold. This is a mere 270 units more than Toyota’s subcompact sedan, showing very tight competition between the two models.

The current generation Mitsubishi Xpander has been in our market since 2018. It received a minor aesthetic update in 2020, followed by a major refresh in 2022. Another little update in 2024 gave it a larger infotainment screen and a new exterior paint job option. Last year, it received another refresh for the 2026 model year, giving it slightly revised exterior and interior design elements, as well as updated tech features.
