These could be the GAC GS8 HEV’s PH market specs

Yesterday, GAC International Philippines announced the arrival of the electrified hybrid version of its GS8 midsize SUV this coming March, and it’s generating a bit of excitement online as we have been awaiting its arrival for a few years now.
More information about the brand’s flagship SUV offering has come in as we were able to get hold of its possible spec sheet for our market showing us what we can expect for the Chinese automaker’s flagship SUV offering in our market, and we have everything here for you.
For starters, the possible spec sheet indicates that the GS8 HEV will be available in all-wheel drive (AWD) just like the non-hybrid version, specifically dubbed as the GS8 Hybrid GX AWD.

Powering it will still be a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, but this time paired with GAC’s Mega Wave THS hybrid system which was co-developed with Toyota, and is paired to a 1.73kWh nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery.
Outputs are 190 horsepower and 320Nm of torque from the engine. Meanwhile, its dual electric motors produce 182 horsepower and 270Nm (front), and 54 horsepower and 121Nm (rear), for a combined electric motor output of 237 horsepower and 391Nm. These are sent to all four wheels via a CVT instead of an eight-speed automatic.

On top of its hybrid powertrain, the GS8 Hybrid GX AWD also gets a six-seater cabin layout along with some aesthetic upgrades. On the outside, it gets a redesigned front grille which features larger openings, a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels that come with a “floating” center cap that stays upright while driving, and a slightly redesigned front and rear bumpers.
The interior will retain most of its minimalist layout with large screens and a generally upright design, but now with the aforementioned six-seater layout with second-row captain seats that come with “aviation-style” headrests.

Features are headlined by the same 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system as before, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a premium Alpine sound system, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features also remain the same such as its full LED lighting, chrome-tipped exhausts, power tailgate, panoramic sunroof, rear privacy glass windows, leather and leatherette seat upholstery, faux suede door inserts, tri-zone automatic climate control; front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions; and multi-color ambient lighting.
When it comes to safety, it gets the full suite of GAC’s ADiGO advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) suite. This includes adaptive cruise control, front and rear collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane keep assist, and blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert.
It also gets a 540-degree around-view camera, seven airbags (dual front, side, side curtain, and driver’s knee), stability control, hydraulic brake assist, hill start assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Now these specifications are probably not final as they have not yet been officially announced, but we won’t have to wait too long as March is just around the corner, meaning we could see the launch of the GAC GS8 Hybrid happening very soon.
