Is Tesla introducing the three-row Model Y L in PH?

While the market is transitioning to an electrified future, there is no doubt that three-row SUVs and MPVs remain very popular, especially here in the Philippines where vehicle seating capacity is a huge selling point. In fact, four out of 10 of the top-selling vehicles in our market have a minimum of three-rows.

Tesla Philippines could be joining the fray soon with the Model Y L, a lengthened three-row version of their top-selling Model Y compact crossover, which has appeared on the Department of Energy’s List of Recognized EVs.

The American automaker has not announced or given any hints of the possible introduction of the Model Y L in the Philippines, but we do know what to expect from it based on what other markets already have.

The Model Y L looks the same as the regular Model Y, but is 179mm longer than the standard Model Y at 4,969mm of length, and rides on a 150mm longer wheelbase, now measuring at 3,040mm. This provides enough room for a third row of seats, bringing capacity up to either six or seven occupants, including the driver.

The six-seater version gets a pair of individual seats with electric armrests on the second row, while the seven-seater gets a standard bench seat. The added third row can accommodate two occupants, and comes with third row air vents. Other differences include larger rear quarter windows, unique 19-inch wheels, and a more aggressive ducktail spoiler.

As for its powertrain, the Model Y L in other markets gets the same dual-motor setup as the Model Y Premium Long Range AWD. This is good for 514 horsepower, and a range of over 600km with its 88.20kWh battery.

With the standard length Tesla Model Y already doing pretty well in the Philippines, do you think the addition of a three-row option with the Model Y L would help further boost sales for the American automaker?
