MIAS 2026 | MG Motor PH launches facelifted MG 5, previews G50 PHEV

MG Motor Philippines was on a roll last year, introducing the all-new ZS and HS in hybrid form, as well as its first turbodiesel pickup truck, the TRQ-L.
The Sino-British automaker wants to continue that momentum as it showcases new products at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), introducing not one, but two new models at the country’s annual motor show. Say hello to the refreshed MG 5 and the new MG G50 PHEV.
Let’s start with the new MG 5, now known as the MG 5 Prestige and priced at Php 888,888 or just Php 10,000 more than the current version’s top-spec Style variant.

This is essentially a facelift of the subcompact sedan, and based on the facelifted version of the Roewe i5 in China from back in 2021. It trades its elegant looks for a more aggressive appearance characterized by a slimmer front grille and reshaped headlights, and the taillights have been enlarged as well. The interior has also been thoroughly redesigned, now wearing a sleeker appearance that’s more in line with the rest of MG’s newer products with its new layout and tablet-style infotainment screen.

Standard equipment include LED headlights, new 16-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, synthetic leather upholstery, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six-speaker audio system, rear airconditioning vents, and a reverse camera.

Under the hood, the MG 5 Prestige retains the pre-facelift version’s 1.5-liter four-cylinder naturally-aspirated gasoline engine. Output remains the same at 110 horsepower and 142Nm of torque, and it’s still mated to a CVT.

Next, being previewed for our market is the G50 PHEV which is also making its first appearance outside of China. Obvious by its name, it’s a plug-in hybrid variant of the fairly popular MG G50 which was formerly sold under the Maxus brand prior to its local reintroduction under MG.
And while this is not yet officially available on sale, MG Motor Philippines has already opened reservations, and has even revealed its retail price of Php 1,398,888.
So what’s different? For starters, it’s powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 95 horsepower and 130Nm of torque, with a single electric motor making 218 horsepower and 280Nm of torque. Combined power output is 299 horsepower.
The system is mated to an 18.65kWh LFP battery that can be replenished through Type 2 AC charging in less than three hours. It can drive up to a combined total of 1,415km (CLTC) on a single full tank of gas and full charge, or up to 95km (WLTP) on pure electric power alone.

Also setting this apart from the non-electrified G50 Plus is its redesigned front fascia which is more upright, and wears a sleeker and more futuristic look with a slim daytime running light strip up top, and headlights placed lower on the bumper. The interior, particularly the dashboard, has also been completely redesigned, also gaining a sleeker and more modern appearance just like the exterior. It also retains its six-seater configuration with second-row captain’s chairs.
Standard equipment on this once launched will include LED exterior lighting, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six-speaker audio system, synthetic leather upholstery, and a panoramic sunroof.
If you want to see these new MG vehicles in the metal, you can check them out at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show which is happening at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City until April 12, 2026 (Sunday).
