This Nissan Patrol Nismo will be the first responder in case of accidents in the Super GT series

We never know when accidents will happen, and that’s especially true in a fast-paced environment like the race track. Thankfully, official race events will always have first responders and there’s a new one that’s definitely interesting.

Nissan, along with its Nissan Motorsports & Customizing Co., Ltd. (NMC) subsidiary, have announced that the Patrol Nismo will be serving as a First Rescue Operation (FRO) vehicle in the 2026 season of the Super GT series which started just last weekend.

The Nissan Patrol Nismo FRO made its track debut at Round 1 of the one of the largest motorsports events in Japan, held at the Okayama International Circuit, with a handover ceremony held on race day which was last April 12, 2026.

The FRO is very important in any motorsports event, playing a vital role in race safety, transporting drivers, doctors, and rescue staff swiftly and safely to the scene in the event of an untoward track incident.

The Nissan Patrol Nismo is surely suitable for this role as not only is it powered by a specially tuned 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that outputs 495 horsepower and 700Nm of torque, along with heavily improved aerodynamics and a dedicated suspension, it’s also highly capable in towing and carrying, allowing it to easily clear any damaged vehicles, and carry a full team of medical personnel and any required medical equipment, with no issue.

The new Y63 Patrol NISMO integrates the technologies of our motorsports and customization divisions, making it a model that truly embodies NMC,” said NMC President and CEO Yutaka Sanada. “We are honored it will serve as a FRO vehicle for Super GT—one of the world’s premier GT racing series. Its exceptional performance and reliability will, without doubt, contribute to swift track rescue operations.”
