The Lexus TZ is the Toyota Highlander and Subaru Getaway’s posh sibling

Completing the trifecta of the three-row, full electric SUVs is the Lexus TZ, the posh sibling of the Toyota Highlander BEV and Subaru Getaway.
The TZ looks very familiar, blending multiple Lexus SUV designs and putting it on the three-row SUV formula. It has the boxy front end of GX, just with a blanked-out front grille and a lit-up Lexus logo that follows the “Spindle Body” design language for Lexus BEVs. The headlights, while similar to the GX, are a split affair with separate main beams from the DRL.

It has boxy fender flares, just a bit tamed down compared to its off-roader siblings, and wheel sizes range from 20 to 22 inches. The rear end features the same slim light bar and a bit of an aggressive, flared-out fender design with massive turn signals built in.

Instead of the usual tech-filled interior design of all screens and no buttons, Lexus has decided to go the opposite way and integrate the same hidden switches, which measure 12.3 inches for the gauge cluster, a heads-up display, and an optional 14-inch dual infotainment screen, all similar to the Lexus ES’ approach.

The interior can be upholstered in three different colors, and it also has a new approach to ambient lighting that also utilizes the 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, and fragrance system to make a soothing and relaxing atmosphere for all the passengers.

Naturally, the six seats have a panoramic sunroof above, with power adjustments, heating for all three rows and cooling for the first and second, and the middle two captain’s seats have ottomans.

The Lexus TZ is powered by a dual-motor powertrain with a maximum system output of 407.8 horsepower, with each electric motor producing 227 horsepower and 268.6Nm of torque. It’s powerful enough to do the 0 to 100kph sprint in 5.4 seconds, but it’s not the fastest of the trio, as that honor goes to the Subaru Getaway.

It can do up to 620km of range on a single charge from a 95.82kWh battery, and it can do DC fast charging at speeds of up to 150kW, filling up the battery from 10 to 80% in around 35 minutes.

Lexus Safety Sense advanced driver assistance systems come as standard, and there is also a Rear Comfort mode that tunes a lot of aspects of the driving dynamics to prioritize the comfort of the rear passengers. There’s Dynamic Rear Steering to aid agility, shrinking down the turning radius down to 5.4m, and it also has the Interactive Manual Drive feature from the RZ to simulate an eight-speed manual transmission.
Seeing as how this is a global release, there is a big chance that Lexus Philippines could introduce this as a premium, family-oriented three-row full-electric SUV to fall in line with its electrification efforts.
