The GAC Aion UT is coming to the Philippines this May

The small battery electric vehicle hatchback segment is heating up. What started out with the BYD Dolphin quickly expanded with the MG 4, the BYD Seagull, the VinFast VF 5, then the upcoming Geely EX2, and now, there’s another challenger coming in the GAC Aion UT, which was actually previewed last year at the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit 2025.

This handsome-looking small electric hatchback uses a design language called Milanese Aesthetics, with a distinct-looking “winky eye” signature for the LED headlights, various wheel designs, either 16- or 17-inch wheels, and a friendly-looking rear end with the distinct four-dot motif found within the C-shaped taillights.

The Aion UT also comes in five distinct colors, which are Champs-Elysees Beige, Emerald Green, Rococo White, Seine Silver, and a two-tone Rococo White + Emerald Green

Despite the Aion UT’s small size of 4,270mm long, 1,850mm wide, and 1,575mm tall, the five-seater hatchback has a lot of space inside, with a wheelbase of 2,750mm, and lots of cargo space thanks to flat-folding rear seats.

The cabin also has a 14.6-inch infotainment with Apple CarPlay support, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and support for various advanced driver assistance systems.

Specifications aren’t confirmed yet, but in other markets, the Aion UT features a single front-mounted electric motor with 136 horsepower and 145Nm of torque. It’s paired with a 44.12kWh “magazine” battery that’s rated for up to 420km on a single charge, which also supports DC fast charging, bringing the battery from 30 to 80% in around 24 minutes.

More details will be revealed close to the vehicle’s launch, but customers can visit their nearest GAC dealerships to see the cars in the metal and to place pre-orders.
