Geely EX2 officially launches in PH, pricing starts at Php 938K

The Geely EX2 is one vehicle that many are looking forward to, but it seems that Geely Motor Philippines is like a turtle when it comes to its rollout, taking things slowly with preview after preview at the Auto Focus Summer Test Drive Festival, 20th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), and 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

Finally, the wait is over as the Chinese automaker has officially launched its newest offering for our market. A fully electric hatchback, the Geely EX2 will be competing directly with the BYD Seagull and larger Dolphin, and the newly launched Chery QEV.

As we’ve reported many times before, two variants are available–the Pro with its retail price of Php 938,000, and the Max with its retail price of Php 1,038,000.

Regardless of variant, the Geely EX2 is powered by a single rear-mounted electric motor that produces 116 horsepower and 150Nm of torque, paired to a 39.4kWh LFP battery that allows for a driving range of up to 325km on a single charge.

Replenishing the battery can be done in 25 minutes through CCS2 DC fast charging, or up to 6.5 hours through Type 2 AC charging.

Design-wise, the Geely EX2 wears a rather bubbly design with rounded surfaces and shapes, and soft lines all around the exterior. The front fascia is described by Geely as the “smiling front fascia,” while the interior focuses on minimalism, as with many other Geely models.

Most standard equipment are also very similar between the two such as full LED exterior lighting, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, synthetic leather upholstery, a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, among others.

Setting them apart from each other are 15-inch steel wheels with covers, a four-speaker audio system, reverse camera, and glovebox, on the Pro; while the Max gets 16-inch alloy wheels, a six-speaker audio system, wireless phone charger, 540-degree panoramic view camera, passenger side storage drawer (instead of glovebox), six-way power adjustable driver seat, an optional Ivory White interior, ambient lighting, and a suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS).

With the Geely EX2 now in our market, and a lot of visible interest on social media, do you think it has what it takes to beat rivals such as the BYD Seagull, which is the country’s bestselling battery electric vehicle (BEV)?
