MG Philippines is teasing the upcoming S5 EV, to launch August 27

MG Motor Philippines is set to introduce a new model to its lineup on August 27, as it has started teasing the upcoming MG S5 EV on its various social media pages. However, this isn’t the first time that the model was brought up, as it was previewed at a media drive event last July.
The MG S5 EV is essentially a crossover variant of the older MG 4 (the non-Urban model), which it shares its platform with, and competes against the likes of the BYD Atto 3 and Toyota Urban Cruiser.

The exterior features a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette and LED lighting elements that resemble a checkered flag, alongside 17-inch alloy wheels, and it measures 4,476mm long, 1,849mm wide, and 1,621mm tall, with a wheelbase length of 2,730mm.

This is thanks to a single rear-mounted electric motor that produces up to 170 horsepower and 250Nm of torque, alongside a 49kWh LFP battery that can do up to 415km of range (NEDC) on a single charge. It can be juiced up via a Type 2 AC charger up to 7kW, or CCS2 DC fast charging at speeds of up to 120kW, bringing it from 30 to 80% in around 26 minutes, with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities.

Inside, the MG S5 EV has a minimalist interior with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch infotainment display that features physical climate controls underneath, alongside wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, fabric upholstery, and the MG Pilot suite of advanced driver assistance systems.
Will this upcoming EV tempt you away from the other offerings on the market, or are you still waiting for other manufacturers to introduce newer models similar to the upcoming MG S5 EV?
