This is your first look at the production Nissan Terrano

While the world is very excited about the comeback of the recently unveiled Mitsubishi Pajero, there’s also quite some exciting progress with another nameplate that’s also set to make a comeback, this time for Nissan.

Spy shots of the upcoming Terrano, which we first saw as a concept at the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China 2026), have found their way to the internet through an Instagram account called @nissanarabian, and it’s looking good for the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV.

While covered in camouflage, exterior photos show that the production version of the Nissan Terrano will be faithful to the concept vehicle, with Nissan Hardbody and Terrano (D21)-inspired design cues on the front grille. Sadly, the D21-inspired wheels don’t make it to the production version, at least for what we’re seeing, replaced with a more standard multi-spoke design. 

Just like the concept as well, the production version retains the large N-I-S-S-A-N text on the front grille, and rugged front bumper. Other details the spy shots have revealed include the boxy overall shape, door-mounted side mirrors, and Terrano badging that confirms that this truly is the new Nissan Terrano. Also noticeable is its large size that we already noticed with the concept, meaning it could be sized similarly to the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero.

But more than just the exterior, the spy shots now also give us a glimpse of what to expect inside. Unsurprisingly, since this is designed in China after all, it gets a large central touchscreen, along with an electronic gear selector. We’re also seeing a rotary dial for its off-road-related controls, along with some other physical controls in the center console.

We’re not done just yet.

Another photo, this time of the engine bay, reveals that this will indeed be electrified. Nissan already confirmed that this will be a PHEV when it was unveiled as a concept, and we won’t be surprised if it uses the same powertrain as the Nissan Navara Pro, which is set to launch here in the Philippines very soon.

The return of the Nissan Terrano is surely exciting. There’s no confirmation yet if it will be coming to the Philippines, but some reports have already hinted at that happening. Are you looking forward to the new Nissan Terrano?
