Chery Auto PH Teases Tiggo 7 Pro on Facebook
Back in October we got word that the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro may be introduced in the country soon. Our source was a video interview conducted by Chery Global’s Executive Vice President for R&D Ray Bierzynski with Chery International’s Country Manager for the Philippines, Rocky Zhang during the 2020 Beijing Auto Show.
It looks like it will really be coming very soon as Chery Auto Philippines has posted a teaser on its official Facebook page
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is the latest version and second generation of the Tiggo 7 compact crossover. It carries the brand’s new design language which gives it a sleeker and more aggressive appearance.
Inside, it noticeably has an interior that is very similar to what can be found in the larger Chery Tiggo 8 7-seater crossover.
Still no details were given but if it were to be launched here, it would most probably be powered by Chery’s 1.5-liter T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine like on the current Tiggo 7. If based on the Chinese-market version, it should make more power and torque at 156 hp and 230 Nm, now paired to a CVT with 9 simulated gears. It could also get a 1.6-liter turbo but that would raise the price as it will no longer benefit from the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement. The slightly larger powertrain produces a very healthy 197 hp and 290 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed wet-type dual-clutch transmission. This option however is very unlikely to reach our shores.
Some equipment we’re expecting it to have would be a fully-digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, touch-sensitive climate controls, panoramic sunroof, and an electronic gear shifter.
We’re looking forward to the introduction of the all-new Chery Tiggo 7 Pro in the local market. This also means that the Ford Territory and Geely Coolray which are currently the leading Chinese-made vehicles in the country will be having new competition once again, in addition to the Maxus D60 which should also be launched soon as well.
