The 5th Generation Kia Sportage Gets a New Radical Redesign

After months of speculation on what it will look like, Kia Motors has officially unveiled today the all-new fifth generation of its compact crossover, the Sportage.

The all-new Kia Sportage gets a complete redesign with what the company says is a design that has been carefully crafted to inspire customers with its interior and exterior.

“Reinventing the Sportage gave our talented design teams a tremendous opportunity to do something new; to take inspiration from the recent brand relaunch and introduction of EV6 to inspire customers through modern and innovative SUV design. With the all-new Sportage, we didn’t simply want to take one step forward but instead move on to a different level in the SUV class,” commented Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Design Center.

The 2022 Sportage follows Kia’s latest design language dubbed as “Opposites United.” The overall exterior is a complete revolution from the current and all previous generations of the Sportage. Of course seen in front is the brand’s signature Tiger Nose front grille, flanked by boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, and LED headlights. At the rear, both taillights are connected to each other as one piece.

Inside, the all-new Sportage gets a more premium and tech-heavy interior design. The main feature here is the new curved display for the driver’s instrument cluster and infotainment system. Also seen are a new gear selector knob and a two-tone blue and ivory color scheme which adds to the premium look and feel of the cabin.

No information as to what is under the hood of the all-new Kia Sportage was mentioned but it will most likely be powered by the same engines found on the Hyundai Tucson which was revealed last year.

The 2022 Kia Sportage is due for global market launch later this year. By then, we’ll probably see more information on this new generation.
