Chery Tiggo crossovers are capable of driving through 600 mm of floodwaters
We just entered the month of August and while the past few weeks have been very rainy, August usually is even more rainy. One of the biggest problems during this time of the year is flooding and Chery Auto Philippines says this shouldn’t be with their crossover lineup.
Chery Auto Philippines’ current local lineup is composed of five different crossovers, all branded as Chery Tiggo. While most people would choose larger SUVs to be able to drive through floods, you can actually do so in a Chery Tiggo.
For starters, the entry-level Chery Tiggo 2 subcompact crossover is designed with a 186 mm ground clearance which is around 70 to 100 mm more than most hatchbacks and sedans at its price point. That extra height will give Tiggo 2 owners a better chance to pass through floodwaters with no difficulty.
The rest of Chery Auto Philippines’ Tiggo lineup, composed of the larger Tiggo 5X subcompact crossover, Tiggo 7 Pro compact, and mid-size Tiggo 8 all have ground clearances of 200 mm which is higher than some of its competition. Aside from that 186 to 200 mm of ground clearance on the lineup, Chery says that all Tiggo models are also rated to have a water wading capacity of 600 mm which is on par with some larger mid-size pick-up based SUVs.
Prices for the Chery Tiggo lineup of crossovers start at Php 695,000 for the Tiggo 2, Php 818,000 for the Tiggo 5X, Php 1,195,000 for the Tiggo 7, and Php 1,280,000 for the Tiggo 8.
