GAC Motor PH introduces updated GS8 for 2022

Not long after introducing a new variant of its flagship GN8 executive minivan, GAC Motor Philippines introduces the updated version of its flagship SUV, the GS8.

Initially launched in 2018, the GS8 has been the flagship model in the brand’s local SUV lineup. For 2022, it gets a handful of updates to keep it fresh inside and out.

While its overall look and dimensions remain the same, the refreshed GS8 features new exterior upgrades such as larger intake vents with chrome trim on the front bumper, and a new front skid plate in a silver finish to enhance its muscular look. The rear also has a silver finished skid plate to emphasize its rear, further supplementing its midsize SUV image.

Inside, the GS8 also gets a host of changes. The seats are now wrapped in an Alcantara and leather combination material. The front seats also have heated and ventilated functions with adjustable lumbar support and memory function, while the second-row seats have lumbar support to make long trips more comfortable. In addition, the GS8’s second row seats have separate air-conditioning controls with a 5-volt USB port and an electric outlet beneath to give the occupants other options to recharge their devices. Also, it now gets a wireless phone charger.

Other standard equipment on the 2022 GAC GS8 are a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 6-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a heated steering wheel, LED ambient lights, and a panoramic sunroof.

Under the hood, the 2022 GAC GS8 is still powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 cylinder petrol engine that produces 199 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, paired to an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of safety, the 2022 GS8 is equipped with 10 airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), a traction control system (TCS), a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, electronic parking brake, three-point seatbelts with alarm, ISOFIX child seat anchors, brake hold assist, engine immobilizer with anti-theft alarm, and window jam protection, fingerprint sensor door lock, anti-glare rearview mirror, tire pressure monitoring system, and power tailgate with motion sensor.
The 2022 GAC GS8 is available in two variants starting with the 2.0 4×2 Sports which is priced at Php 2,088,000 and the 2.0 4×4 GL, priced at Php 2,288,000.
