Mitsubishi Montero Sport gets blacked-out with new Black Series variant
Just last week, we reported that the Mitsubishi Montero Sport could get a Black Series variant locally as a unit with blacked-out accents was spotted at a local dealership. Well it’s official, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) announces the introduction of the Mitsubishi Montero Sport Black Series.
The Black Series replaces the 2.4 GT 4×2 variant in the local Montero Sport lineup. It joins the Strada Athlete and Xpander Cross in getting blacked-out accents around the exterior. Not only that, the Montero Sport Black Series also gets some additional safety technology from the top-spec GT 4×4.
First on the exterior, the front grille, headlight housings, bumper garnish, roof rails, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear tailgate spoiler, and rear bumper garnish are all finished in gloss black. The White Diamond exterior color option adds a blacked-out roof.
“Black symbolizes power, elegance and sophistication. With the addition of the Montero Sport in our Black Series collection, we wish to appeal to a market that intends to project the same characteristics at the same time give them an SUV that is built to handle anything,” says Mr. Takeshi Hara, President and CEO of MMPC.
It’s not all about looks though as the Montero Sport Black Series, as mentioned earlier, also gets additional safety technology from the top-spec 2.4 GT 4×4. These are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC), Forward Collision Mitigation System (FCM), and Ultrasonic Misacceleration System (UMS).
It also gets the GT 4×4’s nanoe™ air-purifying system for the airconditioning system. nanoe™ is a nano-sized particulate ion which helps deodorize and lessen the inhibition of bacteria and allergens inside the vehicle.
The 2022 Mitsubishi Montero Sport Black Series is priced at Php 1,981,000. For those who want the two-tone look with the White Diamond exterior color, it costs an additional Php 15,000.
