Fresh from the launch of its affordable subcompact crossover, the Raize, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has some good news for those looking for a small family carrier.
The Japanese brand has confirmed that the all-new third generation of the Avanza compact 7-seater MPV will be launched in the country very soon. The latest iteration of the popular will officially be launched locally on March 7, 2022, less than two weeks from now. As expected, the launch will still be held virtually through TMP’s online channels.
While TMP has not confirmed or announced any of the upcoming model’s features and equipment, they did say that specifications will be released on their official website soon. They’ve also somewhat announced pricing which will start at Php 813,000. That’s Php 70,000 more than the current base Toyota Avanza 1.3 J M/T.
An accompanying teaser photo does show us that the all-new Avanza will be equipped with LED headlights, and possibly power-folding side mirrors given that the side-mirror used is similar, if not the same as the one found on the Wigo variants that come with power-fold function.
For what’s under the hood, we can expect the all-new Toyota Avanza to be powered by choices of a 1.3 L or 1.5 L gasoline engines. The former may produce an output of 90 hp and 121 Nm of torque while the latter, 106 hp and 137 Nm. Transmission options are likely to be a 5-speed manual or CVT.
“Our mobility requirements are rapidly evolving, especially after the disruptions caused by the pandemic, but one thing remains constant – Filipinos will always need a reliable car that can offer ample, comfortable space for the family, including extended family members,” said Sherwin Chualim, TMP’s First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations. “This has always been the strength of the Avanza, but for this 2022 release, expect even more value-for-money features on top of its striking style upgrades inside and out.”
