MIAS 2022: Refreshed Geely Coolray previewed in PH

How can Geely Philippines sell more Coolrays? Well of course make it better by giving it a refresh. The brand’s local distributor, Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) has just previewed the updated version of its popular subcompact crossover at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).

Here at the Manila International Auto Show, we are not only showcasing the Geely Models that have brought us to the top 10 ranking among the automotive brands in the country, we would also like to provide you a preview of the further enhanced and definitely a refreshed exterior version of Geely Philippines’ best-selling model, the Geely Coolray Sport Special Edition. Since the Philippines is one of the important markets for Geely, we are the only country outside China that will bring this Coolray Special Edition. We shall continue to communicate with you soon to reveal its prices and availability,” says new SGAP President & CEO Yugo Kiyofuji during his speech at the 2022 MIAS.

Dubbed as the Coolray Sport Special Edition (SE), the updated Geely Coolray gets new exterior bits most notably in front with what Geely calls its Borderless Chronos Grille which features a hexagonal pattern, as well as its X-shaped bumper. The side on the other hand gets new blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels while the rear gets a new double-deck spoiler and bumper. A power tailgate also remains as standard.

Inside, the Geely Coolray Sport SE remains the same as the Coolray Sport Limited currently available locally. It still gets the same two-tone black and red interior color scheme, ventilated seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and 7-inch digital driver’s instrument cluster.

Under the hood, no changes have also been made for the Coolray Sport SE. It is still powered by a 1.5-liter Inline 3-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 177 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with power sent to the front wheels.

Safety tech and features such as blindspot monitoring, 360-degree around-view monitor, tire pressure monitoring system, and automated self-parking assist are still included with the Coolray Sport SE.

Geely Philippines is yet to announce availability and pricing for the Geely Coolray Sport SE. Given the popularity of this model in the local market though, we shouldn’t have to wait too long.
