Electrified BAIC B40e rEV Trailmaster arrives in PH ahead of MIAS 2026

With increased demand for electrified vehicles due to the global fuel shortage and higher than normal price increases, BAIC Philippines, under the distributorship of the UAAGI Auto Group, has decided to introduce the new B40e rEV Trailmaster ahead of its public debut at the upcoming 2025 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).

The BAIC B40 Trailmaster was introduced at last year’s MIAS with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine under the hood, and we all know how pricey diesel is now. This new variant is essentially a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant.

Complete specifications have not yet been revealed, set to be announced at MIAS 2025, but a spec sheet on the Department of Energy’s List of Recognized EVs tells us that it will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired to front and rear-mounted electric motors that produce 204 horsepower and 240Nm of torque, and 340 horsepower and 415Nm, respectively.

A 40kWh ternary lithium battery provides an all-electric range of up to 110km, or a combined gasoline and electric range of up to 1,000km. This can be recharged through GB/T charging, taking in up to 40kW.

This powertrain will also feature a handful of driving modes—Eco, Comfort, Sport, I-Off-road, Ice and Snow, Deep Snow, Off-road, Mud, Rock, and Wading. It also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, which can power outdoor essentials such as lighting or cooking equipment using two 220V outlets with up to 2.2kW of output.

As for its looks, it should appear largely the same as the turbodiesel variant, with a streamlined, rugged off-road SUV design, featuring the brand’s signature Five-Port Light Ring around the front grille, muscular bumpers and overfenders, F-shaped taillights, and a tailgate-mounted spare tire.

Confirmed features include a 12.8-inch central infotainment screen, a 12.8-inch passenger screen, a 12-speaker Infinity audio system, and a full suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS).

Meanwhile, available exterior colors will be Jet Black, Snowy White, Jungle Green, Mineral Yellow, and Future Gray, paired with different available interior color combinations such as Black with Gray and Orange accents or Green with Gray.

The BAIC B40e rEV Trailmaster is priced at Php 2,888,000, a difference of Php 140,000 compared to the B40 Trailmaster. Buyers will be able to take advantage of a five-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty, five-year or 150,000km battery warranty, and three-year roadside assistance.

More information about the new BAIC B40e rEV Trailmaster will be announced at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show, so watch this space. Are you excited for this new electrified off-roader?
