Honda Cars PH to appoint Hidekazu Arai as new President, effective April 1

Honda Cars Philippines is getting a new President in Hidekazu Arai, who is set to replace Rie Miyake, who will be assuming a new post within the Honda Motor Company effective April 1, 2026.

Arai will be bringing two decades of leadership experience to the Philippines, with his most recent stint as the Chief Administrator of the Business Planning Department at Honda’s global headquarters in Japan, and other positions held at American Honda Motor Co. and the Saitama Factory of Honda in Japan.

Arai has a strong background in business planning, finance, and electrification strategy, with the first of his many launches to oversee being the all-new Honda Prelude, which is set to arrive very soon. He will also be helping in refining the business practices and strengthening the brand’s presence in the Philippine market, especially with Honda’s commitment to sustainable mobility.

As for Rie Miyake, she assumed her post in 2023, just as the COVID-19 pandemic was ceding. She was able to launch most of the hybrid variants of three beloved nameplates, namely the Civic, the HR-V, and the Civic.
