Honda Civic RS e:HEV gets S+ Shift and more in Thailand

Honda has given the Civic another set of new updates in Thailand, mirroring the changes that were given to the Japanese market version a few months ago, and giving the compact sedan a bit more after a few years on the market.

While this update is no facelift, there are a couple of fairly significant changes to the Thai-market Honda Civic, which we hope we’ll also be able to see in the coming months here in the Philippines.

For starters, Honda S+ Shift is now standard on the RS e:HEV variant. Making its debut on the Honda Prelude sports coupé, S+ Shift simulates gearshifts, close to an actual manual or torque converter automatic transmission, from the powertrain’s E-CVT for a more traditional and sporty driving feel compared to the usual simulated gear ratios in other vehicles.

New Blazing Red Pearl and Urban Gray Pearl paint jobs are also now available for the RS e:HEV. Complementing the Honda LaneWatch Camera on the EL+ e:HEV and RS e:HEV variants are new blind spot indicators on the side mirrors, with rear cross traffic alert function.

The rest of the Honda Civic remains the same, including its full hybrid lineup for the Thai market, with all variants powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine making 141 horsepower and 182Nm of torque, paired to dual electric motors, with the main motor providing 184 horsepower and 315Nm of torque. 

Now you’re probably wondering if we’ll be getting the same updates here in the Philippines. It’s really a matter of when and not if Honda Cars Philippines brings these changes to our market. We do hope it’s sooner than later.
