It looks like the Jaecoo J5 EV is coming to the Philippines
After launching what is arguably the most affordable hybrid electric vehicle in the market today, the Jaecoo J5 SHS-H, for an attractive price tag starting at Php 999,000, it seems that the automaker is following up with its full electric version in the Jaecoo J5 EV.

Already being teased on its social media pages, the Department of Energy’s List of Recognized Electric Vehicles reveals a lot more specifications.
For one, it will supposedly come in two variants, the Standard and the Max, similar to what’s being offered on the SHS-H variant.
It comes in a single powertrain, featuring a front-mounted electric motor with a maximum power output of 210 horsepower and 288Nm of torque, mated to a 58.90kWh LFP battery pack. The maximum range is up to 461km (NEDC), and it can charge up to 130kW via a DC charger, allowing for a 30 to 80% charging time of around 28 minutes.
Like what we’ve seen in China, it has Range Rover-inspired looks, albeit without the SHS-H’s large front grille, trading it for a smaller, simplified bottom grille, and a faux lightbar up front with a “JAECOO” found inside. It rides on aerodynamic 18-inch wheels, and the rear end also mirrors the front’s faux lightbar design with clear taillights.
Being an entry-level model, it comes with an all-black interior with fabric upholstery for the manual six-way adjustable power seats.
The Max trim comes with additional luxuries like soft-touch material on the instrument panel and door trim, a panoramic glass roof, a load-bearing roof rack, a power tailgate, multi-color ambient lighting, wireless charging, and even a larger portrait 13.2-inch vertical infotainment alongside the 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.
Both come with basic safety features, and the Max adds a 360-degree camera and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems, like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and more.
