BMW Philippines, under the distributorship of SMC Asia Cars Distributors Corporation, has brought in its first ever high-performance car with an electrified drive system, the BMW XM.

We proudly unveil the BMW XM as the epitome of power, luxury, and sustainability in the M car lineup. With its unparalleled performance, progressive interior, and ruggedly captivating exterior, the XM stands as a true embodiment of what a remarkable M car should be. As a brand committed to innovation and sustainability, we are delighted to introduce this powerful vehicle as a plug-in hybrid electric model, demonstrating our dedication to a greener future. This way, our customers may embrace the thrill of driving while reducing their carbon footprint,” says SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp. President Spencer Yu.

Let’s talk performance first, powering the BMW XM is an M Hybrid Drive System. This is composed of a 4.4-liter M TwinPower Turbo V8 gasoline engine, paired with a high voltage 25.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. In total, it produces a whopping 653 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.

BMW says the XM can go from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.3 seconds. In addition, being a plug-in hybrid, the BMW XM can be driven on pure electric power for 82 to 88 kilometers and can be charged through an AC charger of up to 7.4 kW. It also gets a sports exhaust system featuring electronically controlled, continuously adjustable flaps and hexagonal dual tailpipes arranged one above the other for the first time on a BMW M model.

In terms of looks, the XM follows what we’re seeing in other recent BMW models such as its large signature BMW Kidney Grille. This is combined with lots of sharp and aggressive lines and contours throughout the vehicle. The front features split LED headlights while the side is defined by the large 22-inch alloy wheels. The rear then features a slim set of taillights and interestingly, does not come with a BMW badge. Instead, a pair of logos can be found on each top corner of the rear windshield.

And while its exterior took a different approach, its interior is familiar BMW with angular but soft lines, mixing both sportiness and premium feels. It is equipped with BMW Leather Merino with extended contents in Deep Lagoon upholstery and carbon fiber interior trim finishers for the upper sections of the instrument panel and door panels. Heated backrests extending well into the sides of the rear compartment and specially designed cushions offer passengers luxurious levels of comfort. Something unique is the sculptural headliner with its three-dimensional prism structure, photo mount-style border and 100 LED units for illumination.

Other equipment include M multifunction seats, knee pads, M leather steering wheel, BMW Widescreen Display, BMW Head-Up Display, ambient lighting, four-zone automatic climate control, and a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System.

Of course, safety is not compromised here with BMW Driving Assistant as standard. This comprises Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning including lane return with steering assistance, Evasion Assistant, Alertness Assistant and Speed Limit Info system, Active Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go function, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, traffic light recognition, automatic Speed Limit Assist, and Active Navigation.

The 2024 BMW XM is now available in the Philippines for a suggested retail price of Php 15,490,000.
