Mazda PH launches its new flagship CX-90 with Php 3.680M starting price

3 min read

Mazda Philippines, under the distributorship of Bermaz Auto Philippines, Inc. (BAP) is certainly pushing for its upmarket image as it officially introduces its newest flagship SUV, the CX-90.

Revealed earlier this year, the CX-90 is the second model from the Japanese automaker to be built on the Large Product Platform with its front-engine rear-wheel-bias all-wheel drive layout, and will sit above the CX-9 in the company’s local lineup.

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 for the Philippines comes in two variants—3.3 AWD HEV Turbo and 3.3 AWD HEV Turbo Exclusive. The main difference between the two is that the former is a 7-seater while the latter is a 6-seater.

In terms of appearance, the CX-90 wears the latest iteration of Mazda’s Kodo design language with its aggressive yet at the same time elegant front fascia, similar to the CX-60. The side is very clean with minimal character lines while the rear features slim wraparound taillights. It measures 5,120 mm in length, 1,994 mm in width, with a 3,120 mm long wheelbase.

Standard exterior equipment include full LED exterior lighting, 21-inch alloy wheels, rain sensing wipers, hands-free power tailgate, and a panoramic sunroof. Also setting apart the Exclusive from the standard variant are chrome trimmings instead of black.

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 can be had in seven (7) different colors—Artisan Red Premium, Rhodium White Premium, Machine Gray, Platinum Quartz, Sonic Silver, Deep Crystal Blue, and Jet Black.

Inside is where the CX-90 shows most its upmarket feeling with sleek and minimalistic approach with the use of premium materials such as Nappa leather and Leganu suede, as well as metallic accents. The Exclusive adds more premiumness with the 2nd row captain’s seats.

Standard interior equipment on the standard variant are black Nappa leather seats, 10-way power adjustable front seats, aluminum with silver interior trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 12.3-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, 12-speaker Bose audio system, 10.4-inch Active Driving Display, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and interior ambient lighting.

The Exclusive gains more features with ventilated 1st and 2nd row seats, graphite interior trim with gunmetal accents, and Tan color scheme for the seats and dashboard in addition to quilted Leganu suede.

Powering both variants of the 2024 Mazda CX-90 is a 3.3-liter turbocharged Inline-6 e-Skyactiv-G gasoline engine, paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and 0.33 kWh lithium-ion battery. This despite the use of the HEV name in its variants. Anyway, this produces 284 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.

It is also good to note that unlike the usual mild-hybrid systems, the CX-90’s powertrain can run on full electric power not only when coasting to a stop, but also at lower speeds, provided that the battery has sufficient charge.

It also comes with Kinetic Posture Control (KPC) which was originally developed for the Mazda MX-5 (Miata). This allows for reduced body roll when cornering to improve vehicle stability and traction, improving the overall riding and driving experience for the occupants of the vehicle.

In terms of safety, the 2024 Mazda CX-90 comes standard with Mazda’s i-Activsense suite of advanced driver-assistance technology. This gives it Front and Rear Smart Brake Support, Radar Cruise Control with Cruising and Traffic Support, Adaptive LED Headlights, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring with Vehicle Exit Warning, Front and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Brake Support, and a 360-degree Around-view Monitor.

Pricing for the 2024 Mazda CX-90 starts at Php 3,680,000 for the 3.3 AWD HEV Turbo, and Php 3,780,000 for the 3.3 AWD HEV Turbo Exclusive. Like with other Mazda vehicles, customers will be able to take advantage of a 5-year Free Service Plan. This means owners will pay nothing for any preventive maintenance service in the first five (5) years of ownership.
