PEVS 2023: Chery Auto PH previews upcoming electric and PHEV models

2 min read

Chery Auto Philippines is not slowing down with its push for electrification as it previews three new energy vehicles that are set to join their local lineup in the coming months or years, at the 2023 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.

The Chinese automaker, under the distributorship of United Asia Automotive Group, Inc., previewed the Chery eQ1 and eQ7 fully electric vehicles, and the Tiggo 7 Pro e+ plug-in hybrid.

The Chery eQ1 is a small 3-door hatchback that is also known as the Little Ant. It is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that produces 40 horsepower and 120 Nm of torque with a range of up to 280 kilometers. Among its features are front power seats, wireless phone charger, and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, among others.

Meanwhile, the Chery eQ7 is the brand’s newest EV model, revealed earlier this year. This crossover EV is powered by dual electric motors with short and long range options. The former can drive for up to 412 kilometers while the latter can go up to 512 kilometers.

This follows a minimalist and streamlined design approach, and even has a low wind drag coefficient of 0.31. Among its features are dual 12.3-inch screens, dual-zone climate control with air purification and fragrance system, as well as Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving capability.

Finally, something more familiar to us is the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV e+. It is essentially a plug-in hybrid version of the Tiggo 7 Pro that we already have in the market. Powered by the same 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, the PHEV also gets dual electric motors. This brings total output up to 326 horsepower and 545 Nm of torque, with an all electric range of 80 kilometers

Unlike the regular Tiggo 7 Pro, the Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV e+ features a different and more aggressive bumper, a more sculpted front grille, and a different interior. It gets dual 12.3-inch screens, and heated and ventilated front seats, as well as a complete suite of advanced driver assist systems (ADAS).

There is no timeline yet as to when Chery Auto Philippines plans to formally launch these models but we do hope very soon.
