Hyundai Motor PH is going to launch four new models in 2024

3 min read

Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH) has had quite the year, adding five different models to its lineup—the IONIQ 6 EV, Custin, Stargazer X, Stargazer 6-seater, and Staria 9-seater.

It looks like there’s no slowing down next year as the Korean automaker has confirmed that they will be introducing another four new models. This was announced by HMPH President Mr. Dongwook Lee during a thanksgiving event for local motoring media and content creators.

Out of the four, already confirmed for arrival is the all-new fifth generation Hyundai Santa Fe which was previewed during the event. As for the other three, we can only assume what they are.

Interestingly, as Mr. Lee was doing his speech, a video of the IONIQ 5 N was shown on the screen behind him. This can only mean that it will be one of the four. This high performance model was revealed a couple of months ago as the first full EV under Hyundai’s N performance division.

Being a high performance vehicle, it is natural that Hyundai has given the IONIQ 5 N various upgrades. To keep things short, these upgrades include body and chassis reinforcements that provide higher torsional rigidity and direct steering feel, enabling rally-inspired dual-motor AWD cornering; new thermal management and regenerative braking systems; and exclusive performance features which are N Battery Preconditioning, N Race, N Pedal, N Brake Regen, N Drift Optimizer, N Torque Distribution, N Launch Control, N Grin Boost, N Active Sound +, N e-shift, and N Road Sense and Track SOC.

Powering the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N is a dual-motor electric powertrain with an 84 kWh battery. Total boost output is pegged at 650 horsepower with a 0-100 kph acceleration time of just 3.4 seconds, and a top speed of 260 kph. Those are huge upgrades compared to the standard IONIQ 5 variants.

It also features N e-shift which simulates an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) from internal combustion engine (ICE) N cars. It simulates a gearshift by controlling motor torque output and simulates the jolt feeling between shifts. As a result, it provides a more precise, interactive driving experience that feels closer to ICEs than previous EVs.

What else could come?

As for the other two models, we can only wish and guess for now. Our assumption is one of them could be the Hyundai Casper as during a trip with HMPH to Seoul, South Korea earlier this year, a lot of attention was given to the said model.

The Casper is the brand’s smallest crossover in their lineup and we think it definitely makes sense for the Philippine market. That’s thanks to its small dimensions while still providing a good feature list, and higher ground clearance which many Filipino buyers love. You can also read about that model here.

And for the fourth model, we are hoping to see the return of the Kona subcompact crossover or the Elantra compact sedan. The former can compete with the popular Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross, while the latter can go head-on with the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis.

What models do you think Hyundai Motor Philippines will launch next year? Your guess is as good as ours. Regardless, it’s gonna be a very exciting year for the Korean automaker.
