GAC Motor PH set to launch six new models in 2024

2 min read

GAC Motor Philippines has had quite the year as it relaunched in the country under a new distributor—Astara Philippines; as well as introduced new models which are the Empow, GS8, Emkoo, and GS3 Emzoom; in addition to expanding its reach with a network that is now 20 dealerships strong.

Well it looks like 2024 will continue to be very busy for the Chinese automaker as other than targeting to open up an additional 15 new dealerships, they are also set to launch six new models throughout the year. This was announced by GAC Motor Philippines Brand Head Mr. Franz Decloedt during a thanksgiving event for members of local motoring media and content creators.

Two of the six models were already confirmed, having been physically previewed during the night’s occasion. The first is the GAC M8 luxury minivan which replaces the GN8. Its introduction was already announced a few months ago and it will compete directly with the Toyota Alphard.

Second is the GAC M6 Pro, essentially a refreshed version of the GAC GN6 which has been sold locally since 2021. This one is set to compete with popular MPV models like the Toyota Innova and Zenix, as well as the Mitsubishi Xpander, among others.

As for the other four models, no hints were given. Looking at what is on offer in the brand’s home market of China, among the models not yet available locally is the GS4 Plus, while an Emkoo-based third generation GS4 is also in the works, though that would not make sense to be sold alongside the Emkoo here.

GAC Motor Philippines might also go with the electric route just like other Chinese automakers by introducing their Aion line of EVs. This includes models such as the Aion S Max compact sedan, Aion Hyper GT executive sedan, Aion V Plus compact SUV, and Aion LX Plus midsize SUV, among others.

Whichever the four of the six models will be, it surely sounds like it’s gonna be a very exciting and busy year for GAC Motor Philippines.
