Suzuki XL7 Hybrid quietly launched in PH for Php 1.252M

2 min read

After Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH) launched the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid in January last year, it was a no-brainer that to follow suit was the “hybrid” version of the compact MPV’s SUV-fied XL7 sibling. Well, over a year later, the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid has officially arrived.

The Suzuki XL7 was first launched in 2020 to compete with the likes of the Honda BR-V and Mitsubishi Xpander Cross. With the introduction of the “Hybrid” version, this marks the first update done to the SUV-fied MPV since then.

Ignoring Suzuki Philippines’ persistence on using the “Hybrid” badge, the Suzuki XL7 now gets a mild-hybrid powertrain under the hood like the Ertiga. This is composed of a 1.5-liter K15B Inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a 12-volt 0.72 kWh lithium-ion battery or Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). This allows it to produce a total output of 104.8 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque, mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Moving on, the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid is largely the same as the regular XL7. The only noticeable change on the exterior is the revised front grille which now gets a chrome surround and chrome bar in the middle. Its bumpers, 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, as well as the LED headlights and taillights remain the same as before.

As before, exterior color choices are Magma Gray Pearl, Brave Khaki Pearl, and Snow White Pearl. New for this update are Savanna Ivory Metallic and Rising Orange Pearl Metallic, both paired with Cool Black Pearl Metallic for the roof and pillars.

Inside, it’s also largely similar but with new satin silver accents on the dashboard. It still gets a black color scheme with black faux wood dashboard trim, fabric seats, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and ventilated cupholders, among others.

The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid is now available at all authorized Suzuki dealerships in the country for a suggested retail price of Php 1,252,000, an increase of Php 71,000 compared to before. Units with two-tone exterior colors also come with an additional charge of Php 10,000.

What do you think of the new Suzuki XL7 “Hybrid?”
