Honda Cars PH announces recall for 2022 Civic

2 min read

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has announced that it is conducting a voluntary safety recall for select units of the current generation Civic compact sedan, specifically model year 2022.

This safety recall affects 1,025 units of the Civic and is for the replacement of the Electric Power Steering Gearbox. According to HCPI, it was found that the Electric Power Steering Gearbox worm gear in these units was improperly installed or manufactured.

In a statement, the company said that the grease applied on the worm gear was depleted, causing a stick slip leading to an unusual sound when turning the steering wheel. Thankfully, no accidents related to this issue have been reported in the Philippines.

With that, the Japanese automaker is asking owners to bring their vehicles to any of their 37 authorized dealerships, or four dedicated service centers for the free replacement of the faulty parts. They say that it will take around three and a half hours to complete.

HCPI is also working to notify all the owners of the affected vehicles. Owners may also verify if their vehicle is affected by the recall by encoding their 17-digit Chassis Number or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in the recall information webpage on the official HCPI website.
