Nissan X-Trail e-Power looks to be inching closer to PH launch

With the Nissan X-Trail e-Power all but confirmed by Nissan Philippines for a local launch after making multiple appearances at various events, the electrified crossover now makes an appearance in the Department of Energy’s List of Recognized Hybrid Electric Vehicles, and it looks like it’s coming in one variant.

Specifically, it looks to be only a single 2WD variant. This means that it will be mating a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder Variable Compression turbocharged gas engine to a single electric motor.

The documents confirm an engine power output of 142 horsepower, but that does not drive the wheels, but instead, it acts as a generator to power the 1.75kWh lithium-ion battery. The electric motor pumps out a more respectable 201 horsepower to the front wheels.

While the documents don’t confirm what other specifications our local variant might get, the closest reference we have is the model that was launched in Thailand late last year, where it still has the pre-facelift V-Motion front grille with split headlights, a black leather interior, and the current-generation 12.3-inch NissanConnect infotainment system, to name a few.

With fuel prices staying sky-high and the revival of the compact crossover segment thanks to multiple electrified offerings, will you consider the Nissan X-Trail e-Power over the likes of the newly launched Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, or Subaru Forester HEV?
