Refreshed Mazda CX-5 arrives in PH as new AWD Turbo variant, priced at Php 2.380M

The Mazda CX-5 gets an update for this year with a new variant as Bermaz Auto Philippines, Inc., the official distributor of Mazda vehicles in the Philippines announced its availability.

New for 2022 is the 2.5 AWD Turbo variant which replaces the previous 2.2 AWD Diesel variant. This new variant also receives some updates when compared to, and to set it apart from other CX-5 variants currently available.

Looking at the outside, the 2022 Mazda CX-5 2.5 AWD Turbo, as mentioned, gets refreshed styling. It gets redesigned front and rear bumpers which complement the new 3D front grille, thinner headlights, and new LED taillight clusters. The black plastic cladding has also been replaced by body-colored ones all-around. There are also new alloy wheels and two new color options which are Zircon Sand Metallic and Polymetal Gray. 

Standard exterior features on this CX-5 are adaptive LED headlights with quad LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, 3D textured front grille design, 19-inch alloy wheels, automatic rain-sensing wipers, power-folding mirrors, larger dual exhaust pipes, power tailgate, and power sunroof.

Inside, the 2022 Mazda CX-5 2.5 AWD Turbo remains pretty much the same upon first glance but Mazda has done some changes here and there to further enhance its upmarket feel and appearance. Satin chrome finishes have been added in various areas for a more elegant look and feel while the roof and pillars are now in black. 

Standard interior features on this CX-5 are new Deep Red Nappa leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, ventilated front seats, 8-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system with Wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, 10-speaker Bose audio system, wireless phone charger, Active Driving Display, dual-zone automatic climate control, and 7-inch LCD display.

Under the hood of this new 2022 Mazda CX-5 variant is a 2.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder turbocharged SkyActiv-G powertrain that produces 253 horsepower and 434 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Not only is it more powerful than the turbodiesel powertrain it replaces, and compared to the naturally-aspirated variants, it’s also easily the most powerful petrol-powered engine in the compact crossover segment, locally.

In terms of safety, the new 2022 Mazda CX-5 2.5 AWD Turbo is equipped with the brand’s i-Activsense safety technologies. This gives it radar cruise control, blindspot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, front and rear smart city braking, smart brake support, and driver attention alert. It also comes with a 360-degree camera.

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 2.5 AWD Turbo with refreshed styling is now available with a suggested retail price of Php 2,380,000. Meanwhile, the pre-refresh 2.0 2WD Sport and 2.5 AWD Sport variants remain available for Php 1,890,000 and Php 1,990,000 respectively.
