The Honda City (and Hatchback) has been updated with a new face and a mildly refreshed interior

The Honda City has just received its second facelift today in both India and Thailand, where the current seventh-generation GN model was introduced back in 2019, and its life has been extended a little more with this new face, which is a bit controversial to many.

Like what we saw in a recent leak, it looks like a stunted love child between the Honda Prelude, a Hyundai Elantra, and a Toyota Camry. The front-end has been given a “mask” that houses a light bar with two individual DRLs with projector headlights, and a mesh grille underneath with the Honda logo moved up. The bumper, on the RS, gets a little “smirk”, while the standard model grades get a frown with faux vents.

The wheels are all 16 inches, with the higher grades getting a new “blade” design. And for most people, the rear end still looks relatively good as it remains mostly untouched, with the sedan getting a matrix-mesh rear bumper, the hatchback retaining the same bumper, and the higher grades getting clear taillights.

The interior has been slightly revised with a new aluminum-esque trim with ambient lighting for the dashboard, and there’s a new white leather option with ventilated seats for higher trims, a PM 2.5 cabin filter, a rear sunshade, and a sunroof.

There’s also a new 10.1-inch infotainment that sticks out of the dashboard (the lower variants retain the same eight-inch infotainment in the current model), and this supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside USB-C ports.

The powertrains remain untouched. There are options of a 1.0-liter three-cylinder VTEC Turbo gasoline engine producing 122 horsepower and 173 Nm of torque, or a 1.5-liter four-cylinder paired to Honda’s dual electric motor hybrid system and producing a combined output of 124 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque

Of course, when we (inevitably) get this facelift, which is now in Thailand, where we also source it from, it will probably come with the 1.5-liter four-cylinder i-VTEC gasoline engine with 121 horsepower and 145Nm of torque. Do you think this would be the perfect model for Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), to introduce to the market?
