The Tesla Model Y L costs nearly Php 1M more in the US versus the PH

Here’s one reason why Tesla owners in the Philippines should be proud of: did you know that the Model Y L that we’re getting costs almost Php 1-million pesos less compared to its equivalent in the United States?

With the recent discontinuation of the Tesla Model X in the United States, a gap had to be filled for a three-row SUV in its lineup, and sure enough, the Model Y L fit the bill. This was just recently introduced to the market last July 2, 2026, and it costs a pretty cool $61,990, or roughly Php 3.810-million.

For context, the Model Y L in the Philippines starts at Php 2,849,000 (or $46,350), almost a whole million cheaper than what the US will get. Sure, we may have the benefits of tax breaks and the fact that our Model Y L is sourced from the Shanghai Gigafactory versus the Texas Gigafactory-built US Model Y L, and there could be more aspects, such as supply chain costs and tariffs, behind the price difference.

Regardless, both cars have the same specifications, exclusively available in Long Range AWD. It has a dual-motor setup with 514 horsepower, and a range of up to 681km from its 88.20kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, and a whole lot of features and functionality that you’d find across other Tesla Model Ys.

Knowing this, do you think that the Tesla Model Y L will sell well in the US, or that Tesla should’ve followed up the three-row Model X with another premium SUV offering?
