Toyota Gazoo Racing PH Cup heads to Batangas Racing Circuit this weekend
Just a little over a month since its last race weekend, the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup is set to hold yet another, and it’s going to be a bit different from what we’ve gotten used to over the past few seasons.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) and Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines are doing something different this year, starting the season with a street circuit race at the Riverpark Cavite, followed by the previous leg at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga. The upcoming race weekend, the third for the 2026 season, marks its first at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas.
Happening on August 15, 2026 (Saturday), the TGR Philippine Cup Race Weekend 3 brings one of the country’s largest motorsports events to a more technical playground, featuring Super Sporting, Sporting, and Legacy classes with the Toyota Vios one-make race (OMR) car, and the Tamaraw Class in the Tamaraw OMR car which also makes it debut on this track.
“As a new track for our Vios OMRs and Tamaraw OMRs, BRC will be an exciting challenge for our drivers. Our aim at Toyota Gazoo Racing has always been to provide opportunities for racers to push the limits for better and to bring racing closer to different car communities. We hope this new racetrack will reignite the passion of our racers and existing fans, and attract the interest of people getting into motorsports,” said TMP Senior Vice President for Marketing Sherwin Chua-Lim.
Just like what we saw during Race Weekend 2, the Vios OMR cars will continue to use E20 fuel, a 20% bio-ethanol blend, while the Tamaraw OMR cars will continue to be powered by B5 fuel, a 5% coco-biodiesel blend. This initiative is in support of national energy security and the development of biofuel supply chains through multi-stakeholder collaboration including the country’s agricultural sector.
“We have received positive feedback from the racers on how biodiesel and bioethanol blend fuels perform on extreme conditions, so we are further studying the feasibility of continuing the use of these low-carbon fuels for our succeeding motorsports events. While we continue to face energy security issues in the country, we hope this initiative will result in improved knowledge on the positive benefits of higher biofuel blends for wider use of motorists,” said TMP First Vice President for Corporate Affairs Josephine Villanueva.
