2023 Ford Ranger: Variants, Specs, Pricing

Ford Philippines has just introduced the newest version of its popular Ranger pickup truck. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Introduced alongside its equally popular Everest midsize SUV sibling, the all-new Ranger still sits on top of the previous generation’s T6 platform but gets a complete redesign inside and out, some engine updates, and several new tech features.

The 2023 Ford Ranger lineup starts with the entry-level 2.0 XL 4×4 M/T, followed by the 2.0 XLS 4×2 M/T and A/T, 2.0 XLT 4×2 A/T, new 2.0 Sport 4×2 and 4×4 A/T, 2.0 Wildtrak 4×2 A/T, and tops-out with the 2.0 Bi-Turbo Wildtrak 4×4 A/T. 

In terms of exterior, the all-new Ranger wears Ford’s latest design language first seen in the larger F-150 and smaller Maverick. It features the blue oval’s signature C-clamp LED headlights and a large front grille with a horizontal bar, giving it a more muscular appearance. The rear features new taillights and a sculpted tailgate with the Ranger name on it.

Starting with the 2.0 XL 4×4 M/T, standard exterior features and equipment are halogen reflector headlights, auto headlight function, black front grille, and halogen taillights. Moving up to the 2.0 XLS 4×2 M/T and A/T gives you a painted front grille, side steps, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Going up to the 2.0 XLT 4×2 A/T adds multi-reflector LED headlights and daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome front grille garnish, halogen fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, power-folding mirrors with turn indicators, and a rear bedliner. 

For the 2.0 Sport 4×2 and 4×4 it gets a unique sport painted grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights, LED taillights, dual front tow hooks, smart keyless entry, and an easy-lift tailgate. Moving up to the Wildtrak 4×2 adds Wildtrak paint accented grille, roof rails, and puddle lamps. Finally, going for the Wildtrak 4×4 gives you Matrix full LED headlights with adaptive function and cornering lights, and full LED taillights.

Inside, Ford has given the all-new Ranger a more modern and tech-filled cabin. It is a huge departure from the model it replaces. It also makes use of more premium materials and provides additional storage solutions around the cabin.

Starting with the entry-level XL 4×4 M/T, the Ranger gets fabric seats, a 8-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, 10-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system with Ford SYNC 4A and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4-speaker audio system, and manual climate control. Moving up to the XLS 4×2 variants add 6-way manual adjustment for the driver’s seat and a 6-speaker audio system. Going for the XLT 4×2 A/T will give you a leather-wrapped steering wheel, windscreen mounted USB port, wireless phone charger, rear center armrest, and cruise control. 

Going for the Sport variants will add leather seats, push button start, and auto-dimming rear view mirror. Finally, the Wildtrak variants give you a larger 12-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable driver’s seat, and 230-volt inverter outlet.

Under the hood, all 2023 Ford Rangers are powered by the brand’s 2.0-liter Inline 4-Cylinder EcoBlue turbodiesel engine. All except the Wildtrak 4×4 get a single turbo version. It produces 170 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed manual (XL and XLS) or 6-speed automatic transmission. Finally, the bi-turbo on the Wildtrak 4×4 still produces 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, paired to a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

For safety, all variants get dual front airbags, side airbags and side curtain airbags, engine anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, immobilizer, and ISOFIX childseat anchor points. The XLS 4×2 A/T adds electronic stability program with traction control, and hill launch assist and roll-over mitigation. The XLT 4×2 A/T adds a reverse camera. Going for the Wildtrak 4×2 adds a driver’s knee airbag and rear parking sensors. Exclusive to the Sport 4×4 and Wildtrak 4×4 is hill descent control while the Wildtrak 4×4 gets front sensors and electric brake booster.

Meanwhile, the Wildtrak 4×4 also gets Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 suite of advanced driver-assist safety technology. This consists of Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, Auto High-Beam Headlights, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping System, Reverse Brake Assist, Evasive Steer Assist, 360-degree Camera, and Blind Spot Monitoring System with Cross Traffic Alert.

Ford Philippines already revealed the 2023 Ford Ranger lineup’s pricing a couple of weeks ago. As a recap, pricing is set as follows:

• Ranger 2.0 Sport 4×4 A/T – Php 1,594,000
• Ranger 2.0 Wildtrak 4×2 A/T – Php 1,569,000
• Ranger 2.0 Bi-Turbo Wildtrak 4×4 A/T – Php 1,875,000
