MIAS 2023: Geely GX3 Pro previewed as a Toyota Raize fighter
The Toyota Raize has been very popular ever since it was launched in the Philippines. More competition is healthy, right? And that’s what Geely has in the form of the GX3 Pro which was previewed at this year’s edition of the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
The Geely GX3 Pro is a subcompact crossover that was first revealed to the Chinese market back in 2017, with a facelift in 2021. In terms of size, it would go against the likes of the Chery Tiggo 2 Pro, Toyota Raize as mentioned, and Kia Stonic. We first reported about the Geely GX3 Pro’s possible arrival a week ago and here we are now.
Looking at its exterior, the GX3 Pro already wears the corporate Geely face with its signature front grille with vertical slats. The car itself is a bit larger than the Toyota Raize, measuring at 4,005 mm long, 1,760 mm wide, and 1,560 mm tall. The interior on the other hand follows a similar design with the Emgrand B-segment sedan, looking visibly more premium than its potential competition.
If launched here, possible standard equipment would include projector halogen headlights, LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital climate controls, and PVC seat material.
Powering the Geely GX3 Pro is a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated 4G15 gasoline engine that produces 102 horsepower and 142 Nm of torque, paired to either a 6-speed manual transmission or continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The 2023 Geely GX3 Pro is not yet officially launched in the country as Sojitz G Auto Philippines Corporation (SGAP) is still studying the viability of the model for the local market. If it would follow the footsteps of other Geely models like the Coolray and Okavango, the GX3 Pro could definitely cause a stir in the subcompact SUV segment.
