The Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup returns to the city this May

With the success of the first leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup held last March 22, the script has been flipped with for the second leg of the race as the series does something that hasn’t been seen since 2018.

This coming May 24 to 25, the venue changes from the Clark International Speedway to the South of Manila, specifically located in Villar City, Cavite.

This means that, yes, this leg will be a street circuit, which was last seen in 2018’s Season 5, Race 2 of the Vios Cup. It took place on the Toyota Manila South Circuit, which was a 1.74-km circuit that had eight right-angle turns.
Street circuits are different from your usual closed circuits, as there is little to no room for error since the barriers are usually right up to the edge of the racetrack, making overtaking a challenge for the drivers.

Now, we don’t know what the layout of the Villar City-based track will be, but expect longer straights (as the area is known for its long, er, straights). Also, based on the released teaser, expect a Drag Race alongside the usual sprint race, driving exhibition, test drives, and even a Toyota Car Meet.
Admission is still free, but you can watch it online at the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines Facebook page and YouTube channels.
