Toll fees on NLEX to increase anew effective January 20, 2026

2026 isn’t so kind to motorists who frequently take expressways. The year started with a toll fee increase for users of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), fuel prices continue to increase, and now it’s the turn of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) to increase its fees.

Yes, motorists traveling on the NLEX to head north of Metro Manila will need to prepare to shell out additional expenses as the NLEX Corporation has announced that it will increase its toll fees, effective January 20, 2026 (Tuesday).

Fees will be increased by Php 6 in the Open System, which covers the expressway’s sections in Metro Manila, and the towns of Meycauayan and Marilao in Bulacan. For the Closed System, which covers the rest of Bulacan and the province of Pampanga, fees will increase by Php 0.26 per km.

This means an additional Php 6 for Class 1 vehicles, Php 12 for Class 2 vehicles, and Php 16 for Class 3 vehicles, that are traversing the Open System, and for those traveling the expressway’s full length from Balintawak to Sta. Ines (Mabalacat City), an additional Php 24 for Class 1 vehicles, Php 60 for Class 2 vehicles, and Php 72 for Class 3 vehicles.

The NLEX Corporation also says that this toll fee adjustment follows the prescribed regulatory process and underwent thorough review by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), and represents the second and final tranche of the approved periodic toll rate adjustments originally due in 2023, which were deferred and implemented in two tranches to mitigate the impact on expressway users.

NLEX Corporation also took this opportunity to flex its recent projects such as the SFEX Capacity Expansion, Candaba 3rd Viaduct, road raising of the San Simon area, expansion of the Meycauayan Northbound Exit, and the construction of the new F. Raymundo Northbound Exit, along with improvements in roadway lighting, enhancements, and safety repairs of bridges and overpasses. System enhancements and equipment upgrades were also completed to improve motorists’ experience at toll plazas.

In addition, set to be completed within the year is the first two-kilometer section of the NLEX-C5 Northlink, which will run from NLEX Mindanao Toll Plaza to Quirino Highway in Novaliches.

Oh, and we hope improvements include flood mitigation projects along the expressway’s carriageway, in order for motorists to no longer have to deal with flood-caused carmageddon.
