The BYD eMax 7 and Shark 6 DMO have been recognized with Guinness World Records

A few months ago, BYD Cars Philippines and the country’s Department of Tourism (DOT) announced their partnership for the “Drive Electric. Love Pinas” tourism campaign, aiming to promote sustainable land travel across the Philippines through a nationwide drive using BYD vehicles, and supported by ACMobility’s charging infrastructure around the country.
Led by local celebrity Wil Dasovich and featuring the BYD eMax 7 fully electric MPV and the BYD Shark 6 DMO plug-in hybrid pickup truck, the campaign was also recognized by the Guinness World Records for the distance that was covered across the island groups of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The campaign along with the two vehicles used received the Guinness World Record titles of: Most cities visited in a continuous journey by a battery electric vehicle (BEV) for the eMax 7; and Most cities visited in a continuous journey by a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) for the Shark 6 DMO. The titles were announced and given at the recent 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
Over 3,500km was covered during the drive, passing through 102 cities and municipalities, starting from Laoag City in the province of Ilocos Norte in Northern Luzon, and concluding after 22 days in General Santos City, all the way on the southern part of Mindanao.

Of course, this would have not been possible without what ACMobility, distributor of BYD Cars Philippines, dubs as the Philippine EV Spine. The convoy of BYD vehicles during the campaign made use of the company’s charging stations. As of this writing, there are now over 160 of them across the country.
“What was once a vision is now a reality,” said ACMobility CEO Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala. “And it goes beyond the vehicles. ACMobility is at the forefront of building an ecosystem that supports every Filipino EV owner–from ease of purchase, to charging availability, to being there every step of the way. That’s why we continue to invest in our ACMobility Charging Hubs nationwide, with the goal of allowing Filipinos to drive electric across the archipelago through the expanding Philippine EV Spine Network.”
