The latest in Philippine motoring

These might be the specs of the PH-spec Nissan N7 which could be called Primera

Remember when we reported a few months ago that the Nissan N7 received its EV recognition from the Department of Energy? Well, we have a follow-up to that.

The fully electric midsize sedan has yet again been recognized as a battery electric vehicle (BEV), but this time utilizing the Primera name, as we guessed before. And more than just that, we’ve gotten our hands on what looks like its specs for our market.

As you probably already know, the Primera will be fully electric. The version for our market could be the lower output variant which gets a single electric motor that produces 218 horsepower and 305Nm of torque. It will feature Eco, Comfort, and Sports drive modes.

Interestingly, the spec sheet states that the electric motor will be paired to a 60kWh lithium-ion battery instead of the Chinese-spec N7’s options of 58kWh or 73kWh LFP batteries. The lithium-ion battery will allow for up to 500km of range, and charging can be done via CCS2 DC charging or Type 2 AC charging.

Like what we’re seeing in the Chinese version we saw before, it measures at 4,930mm long, 1,895mm wide, and 1,487mm tall, and rides on a 2,915mm wheelbase, all making it larger than a Toyota Camry.

As for potential equipment, the Philippine-spec Nissan Primera could get full LED exterior lighting, an adaptive front lighting system, 19-inch alloy wheels, electric door handles, leather seat upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, quad-zone automatic climate control, a column-mounted gear selector, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system which could become the largest in a Nissan locally.

We’re not done yet though as it could also get a 12-speaker audio system, automatic start and smartphone key functions, a panoramic sunroof, along with Nissan’s ProPilot and a suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS).

Now, this information still does not necessarily confirm the arrival of the Primera nameplate, or the N7 as a whole, in our market. If it is coming, it will definitely be interesting how Nissan Philippines will market it, especially with the decline in popularity of midsize sedans, and the fact that fully electric sedans from mainstream brands are rare in our market.
